Listening to awesome music that lights a fire in my soul and makes me want to pump my fists in the air. Singing along, OUT LOUD, and not giving a shit that people think I’m off my rocker. (Give me some 80’s rock and roll and I am PUMPED and can get the sprints going!)
Taking my dog. She inspires me to stretch my legs farther and I love watching her animalistic moves. She has a funny little sideways gate when she really gets going and her back right foot never touches the ground, kinda like a three-legged dog who doesn’t know they only have three legs.
Looking all around at nature, taking in the trees, the sky the massive body of water I like to run along, the Hudson River. I love the shape of the clouds, the faces of people I pass, little kids playing, old people sitting on a bench and the ice cream guy who always waves. On a run I am with the whole world and I love soaking it all in.
Observing other runners, sometimes feeling inspiration, sometimes jealousy, sometimes noticing how goofy they look and wondering if I look the same way but I don’t give a shit because I’m out there RUNNING and it makes me feel good! Oh, and sometimes I try to get in their “draft” but it never really works.
Hooking up with some great friends and getting outside, moving, talking, pushing ourselves. Hitting a set stairs for some sprints, stopping to do some squats, lunges and push-ups. Multi-tasking with some serious catch-up/work-out time combined and hey, that’s better that sitting on our asses texting each other.
